London here we come!

After another hard goodbye, Obi sawme off at JFK and I was on my way to London! Of course, there had to be somesort of complication to every step of this trip and this one happened to be atcheck-in. I gave the guy my passport and boarding pass and after a few minutes,he looks up and says, “uh-oh”. Never a good sign. He told me my passportexpires July 10th and I told him that I was well aware and that weget back to the states June 24th. He told me that it doesn’t matterbecause I needed to have it valid 6 months prior to the expiration date…whatever that means. I told him that I’d had no problem booking the flights andthat I was told it would not be an issue. He told me that it doesn’t matter… Ican’t use it. I almost threw up in his face I was so nervous. I asked what Iwas supposed to do and he says, “how am I supposed to know?” So, on the vergeof my 4th mental breakdown in less than 24 hours, he went off tofind an answer. In the mean time, I was crying on the phone to Obi (for he 10thtime in less than 24 hours) and told him to be prepared to turn back aroundbecause if this guy told me I wasn’t leaving the country, we were buying 1-waytickets to California. 20 minutes later, he came back and apologized, as hedidn’t realize that I already had a visa. SO TIGHT. I wanted to punch him inhis face. Anyway, crisis averted! A few minutes later, I found the rest of my groupsitting in the gate and we spent the next couple of hours talking and gettingto know each other before the first big flight. London here we come!
